Mandy is a mom of two amazing children who have both shaped her life in indescribable ways. Her degrees are in English and Dance from James Madison University and Laban Centre London, respectively. In addition to owning Body Mechanics and teaching Pilates, she teaches modern dancewrites and is and Co-Artistic Director of a local architectural dance company, POV Dance

She was certified in Pilates by Madeline Black in 2001 through the Integrated Teacher Training Program In San Francisco, CA. She taught Pilates with a rehabilitative focus in San Francisco at Simply Balanced Pilates Studio before relocating to Portland in 2007.

Having been an experiential learner all of her life, she first came to Pilates by way of an injury. Over her many years of teaching movement and helping people to heal, she became more and more aware of her innate intuitive abilities. A movement session with Mandy is informed by a lifetime of experiential physical learning. She encourages people to settle into their bodies and find a deeper connection from the inside. She enjoys helping people navigate their physical process and approaches each session intuitively with her practical knowledge of anatomy and movement.

Mandy began developing her Energy work after becoming certified in Pilates. It is deeply healing and is continuously evolving as a co-creative process with each person with whom she works. Her work helps you get to the root of whatever trauma is residing in your body, and helps you move through the process of acknowledging and shifting those patterns. In addition to personal Energy sessions Mandy does energetic space clearings of both homes and businesses. She also does joint energy sessions, working with people in partnership with each other-- whether it be couples, business partners or family members or friends needing support together. She also works with vibrational flower essences. She creates personalized essences to help support and ease people through stress and transition.

She opened Body Mechanics shorty after moving to Portland, with the desire to create a space where people could feel safe and comfortable in exploring their own transformation process. As the studio has grown she has been blessed with a group of incredible healers and movement practitioners to share the space with her. Body Mechanics is a space that fosters each practitioners’ unique healing gifts, while honoring the journey each person takes on his or her own healing path.
