Melissa is thrilled to return to teaching after welcoming her first baby in October 2016.  Watching her son discover his own body has enriched her life and she is more excited than ever to share her joy of moving with others. Melissa came to Pilates as a young dancer studying with the Houston Ballet Academy and received her first Pilates Mat certification in 2001. After performing professionally throughout San Francisco and Chicago, Melissa returned to her hometown in California to earn her college education at UC Santa Barbara and become a fully certified Pilates Instructor through Body Arts and Science International (B.A.S.I.) After receiving her B.A. and her Pilates certification in 2008, Melissa performed and toured internationally and domestically with Parsons Dance out of New York City.  Along with a busy touring schedule, Melissa also taught Pilates in NYC and Brooklyn.  When her time as a professional dancer came to a close, she transitioned into teaching Pilates full time and shortly made the move back to the west coast to be with her now husband, Paul.

Having come to Pilates as a teenager, Melissa is amazed at how Pilates has benefited her through every chapter of her life thus far. To her, Pilates is a wonderful discovery and the constant process of attuning to the body from the inside. Helping people connect to their breath, movement, and inner body connections is her passion and she looks forward to many years of new discoveries with herself and her clients. She is beyond happy to be joining the bodymechanics community.
