Eugenia recently came to Portland by way of New York and San Francisco. After practicing yoga for many years, she tried Pilates to rehabilitate a knee injury and soon found that the change in her movement patterns made the recommended surgery unnecessary. Converted to the wonders of the Pilates method, she continued her studies with Body Arts and Science International (now BASI Pilates) and received her Comprehensive Teacher Training Certificate through that organization. Eugenia then taught for 10 years in the Bay Area, continuing to advance her understanding of movement education by studying with numerous master teachers, including Lizz Roman for rehabilitation techniques and Erik Franklin for his system of working with imagery to facilitate better alignment and ease of movement.

Fascinated with the intersection of mind and body in movement and healing, Eugenia simultaneously trained as a psychotherapist, and now has a busy private practice in Portland. She received her BA from New School in New York City and her MA in psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara. With a particular focus on trauma in her private practice, she has also used somatic therapy to work with children and adolescents in a trauma focused residential setting. Alongside her continuing study and practice of Pilates and Yoga, she has trained in EMDR, play therapy, and several mindfulness practices.
